Dollar Dog Corner

Thanks to all the Dollar Dog Club members who came out to help Dollar Dog celebrate his birthday at Hulen Park. It was hot, steamy and eventually rainy, but everyone had a fun time jumping in the bounce houses and enjoying some great breakfast foods.

Hey Dollar Dog Kids! I just wanted to let you know that we will not be having a Halloween Party this year at MCU. Since we now have two branches and there's only one of me, I can't be in both places at the same time on the same day.

However, the great news is that we will be having a combined Christmas Party for both branches. The party is planned for Tuesday, December 18, 2007 and will be held at the Joshua Community Center right in front of the Joshua High School. There will be food, fun, a giant stocking give-away, and a special gift for each and every one of my club members. So put it on your calendar and watch for your invitation in the mail and be sure to respond and let us know you are coming so that I am sure to have enough food and gifts for everyone!

Also, coming up during the month of November we will be having double punch month again! So for every $5 you deposit to your account you will get two punches instead of one! So save up that change and get ready to make those deposits!

MCU’s Investment Representative Surpasses Expectations

Doug Roberts was introduced in last quarter’s newsletter as MCU’s new Investment/Business Services Officer. Doug has well surpassed management’s expectations in investment volume.

According to Ron Fox, MCU’s President & CEO, “creating an in-house investment representative position was a bold move, considering that credit unions much larger than us have never done it before. We had to work out a lot of internal details that we never had to worry about before. And by hiring Doug as our own employee, we take on more risk as well. But Doug has turned out to be a great asset for MCU. He is extremely sharp and knowledgeable; I have already asked for his advice myself. He not only has handled more investments for our members than I ever thought he would in this short period of time, he has contributed a great deal to our business account relationships. He recently set up a Simplified Employee Pension plan for one our business members, so he has helped that business and their 40 or so employees tremendously. Those employee’s greatly appreciate their employer doing that, and hopefully we have forged a relationship with a great business that will last a long time. I know there are so many options for our members when it comes to any financial service. I just hope our members think of us and realize that being an owner really does make a difference.”

Transferring money just got easier

Have you ever needed to:

1. Send money to another financial institution?

2. Get money into your MCU account from another financial institution?

3. Transfer money to your child, relative or anyone else at another financial institution?

4. Transfer money to make a loan payment?

If so, you will find MCU’s new RealMoney Transfer service quite handy. These transfers will be initiated through NetBranch and will go through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network. Even though we have to pay for each transfer, the cost will NOT be passed on to you, our member/owner. Just another way that credit unions are different from banks.

To initiate and RealMoney transfer, log in to NetBranch and click on the link in the left pane. Just follow the easy steps from there.
